A new entry to the great book of "asian people not understanding american connotations for words" is born.
THAT DUMB!
They'll probably end up paying id to put it on 3, because id has been an enormous supporter of the 360 over the PS3 in usability, and Rage is an amazingly beautiful and detailed game. I can't see M$ letting that go for the extra $1 max it would cost for an extra DVD.
find carmacks quote saying the PS3 is more powerful. I've heard him say the opposite quite a few times.
And the cell doesn't do anything on it's own but sit there. You have to look at the whole system not just the CPU.
XNA, Xbox Primetime, Avatars (they do appeal to casual market, even if it is kinda taken from miis), XBLA, as well as casual full titles.
killzone 2 is it's only real competition. (quick edit: and it's not coming out this year)
Gears 2 does everything right that Gears did wrong. My favorite quote from clifford in E3 was the quote pretty much saying that they realized that color is good. I literally shat a brick and simultaneously screamed thank god someone gets it. Apparently Ubi gets it too after seeing PoP.
The number of PS3's has more than doubled. What do you expect the sales of it's games to do? fall?
BREAKING NEWS: "The Sky is blue. Microsoft destruction imminent"
Another halo or halo/marathon tie in would be better to do as an Xbox 720 launch title if not later. It deserves a lot of time put into it. Something that will really be something to look back on and push games forward.
Unlike 90% of the people here, I've played it. It's an incredible clusterf*** for people that aren't good at controlling the game. This is not a game that will be at all fun to jump into with friends that haven't played it before.
Also, plenty of games have had amazingly robust and simple creation tools, and I'd say only 10% of people take them seriously, and of that 10%, probably only 10% will be any good at it.
That Gears is going to explain WHY the locust are starting to come to the surface. Does no one remember "They do not understand. They do not know why we wage this war. Why we cannot stop. Will not stop. Why we will fight and fight and fight. Until we win, or we die... and we are not dead yet." There is a big plot twist afoot. Any time your entire race is willing to die not just fighting but attacking something, you know there's a damn good reason.
You now have $500,000 in fees.
Hasn't there already been a lot of research put into bending light in chipsets to increase data transfer rates? It's cool, but it's more like a natural progression than anything.
Also, wtb fiber optic cable to my hoose.
Went into the future, downloaded it into your brain, then came to the conclusion that you would no longer need to see the page in it's usual form and produced a network timeout to cover up for it.
It's the same interview that said that the consoles would see simultaneous launches in NA and EU, the source of the confusion is obvious.
I'd get confused if any interview said 2-3 different things regardless of what it was talking about.
If sony announced that it stole Gears of War or Halo, they probably would have won E3, and you wouldn't be saying the same "multi-platform" nonsense about it.
So it's just like every other final fantasy ever then?
Like most performance sports that are scored. If you fall AT ALL ice skating, you are almost guaranteed no higher than a 3rd place score. Even if you pull off the single craziest trick ever.
Killzone did look great, but there were a few places that were off, and they probably brought it down from what would have been a win.
The control is incredibly difficult. I think people really underestimate how making a sidescroller 3d(not just graphics) can really mess up the gameplay.
Watch the G4 demo of the game at E3. The only person actually accomplishing anything in the level is the game designer. Morgan and Adam are too busy trying to not get crushed while they're stuck in an impossible to get out of pit (if it weren't for the developer being used as an easy respawn).
It's a platformer (done before) with physics (done before) that allows co-op (done before) and has level creation (done before).
It's evolutionary.
The camera is the only legitimate problem I had with the game (aside from the guy that yells every time he speaks... wtf?).
It makes it really hard to chain combos over a certain point because all the enemies are behind you. You have to do a lot of blind attacking, which is no good in almost any game.
That aside, this game was one of my favorite demos on live except the battlefield bad company one. The game went from a rent to a panic to find funds to buy day 1 game....
You have no idea wtf you're talking about.
John Carmack does prefer the PC and 360 to PS3, partly because of his background, but also because he is completely changing the way an engine uses the components.
He is a great innovator. Look at idtech 5 tech demos and the way it uses textures. That is completely amazing. He's even supposed to be working on a way to do similar things with polygons. He could very well increase the visible performance of video games by at le...
